Identified WWII Army Airborne Troop Carrier Command Master Sergeant Uniform Group

The uniform was that of Master Sergeant Paul L. Daily of the Headquarters of the 9th Troop Carrier Command in the European Theater of Operations. The group is comprised of the Ike jacket; the uniform trousers; the khaki shirt and tie; the overseas cap; and a souvenir handkerchief with the British made patch of the Airborne Troop Carrier Command. The Ike jacket has on its left shoulder the patch of the British made Airborne Troop Carrier Command. Each sleeve bears the rank chevrons of a Master Sergeant. On the lower left sleeve the jacket has five overseas service chevrons. On the lower right sleeve is the British made Army Air Force communications specialist patch, embroidered on wool. On the upper left breast is a three place pin back ribbon bar with the ribbons for the Bronze Star, the Army Good Conduct Medal, and the European Campaign Medal ribbon with a silver campaign star and two bronze stars, reflecting participation in seven campaigns. The interior pocket retains a manufacturer’s tag which is dated 1944 and which has a stated size of 36 Regular. The cotton poplin khaki shirt has the rank chevrons of a Master Sergeant on the sleeves, while on the left shoulder is the fully embroidered patch of the Airborne Troop Carrier Command. The trousers are present with the group, having the internal manufacturer’s tag and the handwritten name of “Daily – AAA”. The wool overseas cap is piped for service in the Army Air Force. The cap carries the pin back distinctive unit insignia of the Airborne Troop Carrier Command. The cap has an interior tag with a size 7. Also with the group is a souvenir handkerchief to which is sewn the embroidered on wool patch of the Airborne Troop Carrier Command. The uniform shows wear and use, being quite clean and without holes, damage or repairs. Accompanying the uniform group are two framed photocopied documents, these being the citation for the Bronze Star as well as Daily’s Report of Separation and Honorable Discharge. Overall the group is in excellent condition.
