Both of the medals are slot brooch suspension, and both are officially hand engraved “Robert G. Drew”. The Purple Heart is numbered “298990” on the edge. The Purple Heart shows some wear and scratches to the finish. According to the website of the American Battle Monuments Commission, Sergeant Robert G. Drew served in the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment and he went missing in action in Holland, with a date of death of September 27, 1944. Presumably Sergeant Drew lost his life in the combat which followed the end of Operation Market Garden in Holland. The set is in very good condition.
